Playing Zombie SF on your phone
You don't need an app store. Open the game in your phone's browser and it switches to touch controls automatically.
Getting started
- Open the game page in Safari on iPhone or iPad, or Chrome on Android.
- Turn your phone sideways. Landscape works best.
- Tap START.
There is no download, no sign-up and no in-app purchase.
Touch controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left thumb | A virtual stick for movement. Push it all the way out to sprint. |
| Right thumb | Drag to look around in first person. In top-down view, it aims and fires. |
| FIRE (red) | Shoot |
| R | Reload |
| ⇄ | Next weapon |
| RIDE | Appears next to a Lime scooter, Bay Wheels e-bike or the cable car |
| VIEW | Switch between first person and top-down |
| II | Pause |
First person or top-down on a phone?
First person looks better but asks more of your thumbs, since you steer with one and look with the other while tapping FIRE. Top-down is easier on a small screen because your right thumb aims and shoots in one motion. If you are new to twin-stick games, start in top-down with VIEW, then switch back once you are comfortable.
Performance tips
On touch devices the game automatically uses a lighter rendering mode, with lower resolution, no real-time shadows and a cheaper glow effect, so it stays smooth on most recent phones. If it stutters:
- Close other browser tabs and apps.
- Turn off Low Power Mode or battery saver, which throttles the GPU.
- Let your phone cool down. Phones slow themselves down when they get hot.
- Update your browser. The game uses WebGL, which every current mobile browser supports.
Keep it on your home screen
In Safari, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome, open the menu and choose Add to Home screen. You get a one-tap shortcut to the game.
